After Mufasa's fall, Scar convinced Simba that he was to blame for the death, after which he drove the cub into self-exile. Mufasa managed to rescue Simba, but when he climbed up the side of the gorge toward safety, he was intercepted and thrown to his death by Scar. With the help of his hyena minions, he set off a wildebeest stampede that threatened Simba's life and thus lured Mufasa into danger. After the birth of his nephew, Simba, Scar made plans to dispose of both Mufasa and Simba. He was the younger brother of Mufasa and the uncle of Simba.
